Film Fiji has already begun preparations for the 12th Kula Awards which will be held this Friday and Saturday.
Film Fiji CEO Dallas Foon says the response this year has been overwhelming as there have been 31 schools that have registered for the Kula Awards this year and 25 schools have also submitted a film for the Film Fiji & Fijian Made Film Awards.
Foon also highlighted that 4 schools in Vanua Levu have also submitted their production, and this is by far the biggest number of films submitted from the Northern Division since the inception of the Kula Awards.
He says that Film Fiji has received Art entries from students all over the country for the Fiji Airways Kula Art Awards.
Entries sent in were shortlisted, with the artists given the theme of "Children of the Sun" and the Top 21 entries have been nominated for the Art awards that will be held on Friday.
Foon adds that as the Kula Awards enters its second decade, they will be raising the bar yet again, adding more training and introducing more categories for students to compete for expanding the competition and hopefully improving the skill levels as they strive to compete for the prizes.
The Film Fiji & Fijian Made Film Awards and the Fiji Airways Art Awards will be held on Friday at 7pm at the VMAX Cinemas, Damodar City, Suva while the Fiji Link Dance Competition will be held at the Vodafone Arena on Saturday 29 July at 7pm.
