Prasad sentenced to 7 years for being in possession of illicit drugs

42-year-old Jiten Prasad of Labasa has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment for one count of possession of illicit drugs.

The court heard that on the 9th of July 2014 Prasad’s house was searched by police where a total weight of 5.18 kilograms of marijuana was found.

While sentencing him, High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo said in his caution interview, Prasad admitted that he brings marijuana plant materials to sell them for $700 in Labasa town.

Judge Temo said Prasad will be liable for parole after 6 years.
