I am very happy as I got a new life.
This is the sentiment shared by the 45-year-old Jitendra Prasad who had his open heart surgery at CWM Hospital.
A team of surgeons from India are currently in the country performing open heart surgeries at the CWM Hospital.
Prasad who is from Bocalevu, Labasa says it was in 2011 when he was admitted in the hospital for the first time because of a heart problem.
He says due to financial difficulties he was not able to have his surgery done.
Prasad says with the help of the government and his relatives, he was able to have a surgery done this year.
Prasad says he is grateful to the Sahyadri Specialty Pacific Hospital Limited Fiji for bringing in the team of surgeons as it would have been very hard for him to go to India and get a surgery done because of the cost.
