History was created last night as Gospel High School sprinters, Aaron Powell and Younis Bese won gold in the Senior 100 metres events.
Powell won the 100 metres Senior Boy’s final, Josevata Lalawa of Ba Provincial took silver while Leone Nasorotabua of QVS took home the bronze medal.
Powell dedicated the win to his schoolmate who passed away and his father who is sick.
Powell also said he needed to win the blue ribbon event to prove his critics wrong.
Younis Bese took gold in the Senior girl’s 100 metres, Miriama
Naiobasali of Jasper took silver while Adi Cakobau School’s Scholastic Matagi settled for bronze.
Bese said she wanted to stamp her mark in the games as she will leave Gospel High School at the end of this year.
Bese and Powell both wore black arm bands in memory of their school mate who passed away recently.
