"We have received a lot of positive feedback especially from women since we made the first equal distribution of lease payment."
These were the comments made the iTaukei Land Trust Board General Manager Tevita Kuruvakadua while presenting their submission together with the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs on the Petition to review the distribution of lease money to personal accounts and the land rent premised on Unimproved Capital Value to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.
Kuruvakadua reveals that many people who never received their lease money are now receiving it after the introduction of equal distribution policy of lease payment .
Kuruvakadua says the equal distribution of lease money will cut out any form of discrimination and assist in solving internal arguments and disputes within landowning units.
He adds it also provides each and every member of the landowning unit direct access to the proceeds from their land holdings rights, which some did not have prior to the equal distribution decree.
Committee Chairman, Balmindar Singh says they will present the Committee's report in the next Parliament seating.
