Acting Police Chief Operations Officer ACP Maretino Qiolevu has stressed to parents and guardians that Police will not hesitate to lay charges of negligence in the event a child falls victim to any harm during the adverse weather situation currently being experienced in some parts of the country.
He says that officers in the Western Division during their visitation have spent a lot of time telling children not to swim in rivers adding that this is extremely worrying considering all the advisories issued and yet Police find children still swimming in swollen rivers.
Qiolevu has also confirmed that Police Officers in the four divisions have already been deployed to visit areas prone to flooding and traffic officers have been boosted considering the unfavorable conditions that could be a safety issue to drivers and all road users.
