Police has confirmed that no official report was lodged regarding alleged sexual misconduct at the United Nations World Food Programme office in Suva and therefore will not be conducting an investigation.
World Food Programme office in Fiji, country Director, Anthony Freeman and another senior male staff member have been suspended after allegations of sexual misconduct from female co workers.
Meanwhile, the UN World Food Programme had earlier stated that there is an internal investigation in it’s early stages, into harassment claims made by employees against other staff members.
Resident Coordinator of the UN in Fiji, Osnat Lubrani has said that the investigation is being led by specialist investigators and conducted through the office of World Food Programme’s Inspector General, in line with UN policy.
Lubrani says local authorities are being kept informed as appropriate while the investigation ongoing.
