A cane farmer from Tabia, Labasa was in tears after the car he just bought this morning was involved in an accident at the Samabula traffic lights in the last hour.
Sujit Kumar told Fijivillage that his nephew was driving the car when they heard a siren.
Kumar says they were crossing the intersection at the Samabula traffic lights when his car was hit by a Police vehicle which was coming down from the Princes road.
He says they did not break any road rules and were driving towards Edinburgh drive as the traffic light for their lane was green.
Kumar says he had worked hard to collect $5,000 and was very happy that he had bought a car. He was planning to take his car to Labasa this evening.
One of the sides of the private car has suffered major damages.
