Police will step up security measures for the Super Rugby match between the Gallagher Chiefs and the BNZ Crusaders this Friday.
Police Chief of Operations, ACP Rusiate Tudravu said an operation is currently underway to provide safety and security for all, and ensure the visiting teams and their foreign supporters return safely to their home country as this is an event that was initiated by the Government.
ACP Tudravu said in light of the fact that there are major events also occurring concurrently such as Fiji Showcase 2016, a number of traffic requirements will be implemented this Friday.
For those heading to ANZ Stadium along Laucala Bay Road and Fletcher road, only vehicles with permitted passes allocated by the Fiji Sports Council will be allowed to use the parking space in front of the ANZ Stadium.
Those without the vehicle pass wishing to watch the match will not be able to park in this area and are being requested to find alternative parking space.
Those wishing to attend Fiji Showcase and conduct shopping or other business in nearby areas will be allowed to proceed as usual.
For people going to Fiji Showcase on Friday, you can proceed to the venue and parking is available at Rups Investments parking area next to Nandos Restaurant.
ACP Tudravu said only one lane heading towards Vatuwaqa will be open for traffic from 9pm to 11pm Friday - this is for those travelling from Laucala Bay Road to Fletcher Road.
This is to allow the smooth flow of traffic from the ANZ Stadium as Fiji Showcase is also anticipated to end at the same time.
Those wishing to head into the Laucala Bay area from Fletcher Road are requested to take alternative routes from 9pm to 11pm Friday.
Traffic officers will also be coordinating traffic flow as they want to ensure that there are minimal disruptions.
