Police will continue to carry out operations in Suva City every weekend to clear drunkards off the streets early in the morning.

This was the response from the Chief of Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu following a question which was raised by a resident of Raiwaqa at a SODELPA constituency meeting.

The concerned resident said that most of the drunkards are i-Taukei and they waste their time in the nightclubs till the early hours.

He is requesting the SODELPA MPs to see that changes are made to the opening hours of the nightclubs.

Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa said they have noted down the concern and will take it up to parliament.

Meanwhile, Tudravu said the opening hours of the nightclubs in the Suva Zone area is until 5am and the normal opening hours in other nightclubs is until 1am.

Tudravu said Police will continue to deploy their men to provide security to the people of Fiji.
