Major traffic operations will be conducted by the Fiji Police Force’s Traffic Department with more resources and manpower this festive season.
Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra says the Western Division remains their main concern where the most number of road fatalities have been recorded.
65 people have died on our roads so far this year.
Mishra says 40 road fatalities have been recorded in the Western Division, 14 deaths have been recorded in the Southern Division, four in the Eastern Division and seven road fatalities in the Northern Division.
54,567 cases of speeding have been recorded by the Fiji Police Force so far this year with 5,068 cases of careless driving and 1,100 cases of drink and drive arrests.
SSP Mishra says people will witness major traffic operations on the roads this festive season.
He has also urged people to call their nearest Police Station if they see improper driving behaviour by motorists who are a risk to the general public.
