Marianne Premila Devi.

Police will be amending the charge of 41-year-old Marianne Premila Devi of Sakoca, Tacirua who is currently charged with the alleged attempted murder of her 34-year-old defacto husband.

Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro has confirmed this saying they will be informing the court in this regard.

The 34‑year‑old man from Sakoca, Tacirua who sustained burns and was admitted in critical condition at the CWM hospital passed away on Friday.

Devi has already appeared in the Nasinu Magistrates Court and remains in custody.

The alleged incident took place on the 17th of this month.

Devi will appear in the Suva High Court on the 2nd of December.

Police had earlier confirmed that a report was initially lodged as an attempted suicide whereby a man allegedly tried to take his own life but the case was amended after thorough investigations conducted by officers from Valelevu revealed otherwise.
