Police still await results from Russian counterparts

Police are still waiting for results from the Russian counterparts on the DNA information sent to them through INTERPOL after the forensic test results was conducted on the human remains found at Natadola Beach.

Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Luke Navela says the results from the counterparts will help them to determine whether there is a link to the missing Russian couple.

ACP Navela said a team of divers from the Fiji Navy will be joining Fiji Police Force divers with the search operation in Natadola tomorrow.

Navela said he is grateful to Commander John Fox for sending a team of his divers to help their comrades as they search the Natadola waters to try and piece together the discovery of the body remains as well as the report of the missing Russian couple.

People are also requested to report to police any sighting of items of interest.

Several items were found in the couple’s land cruiser at Natadola Road, Sigatoka.

This included the woman’s clothes and a passport.

A security guard discovered the first set of body parts at Natadola Beach.

Russian couple Yuri Shipulin and his wife Natalia have been missing since the 16th of last month.
