A strong warning was given to new police recruits at the opening of the Basic Recruits Course of the Fiji Police Force today with the Acting Police Commissioner telling them to hang their chiefly titles outside the gates of the Nasova Police Academy.
ACP Rusiate Tudravu told the 95 recruits that they should not expect to be served as the members of the community clearly know that there are no off duty police officers.
ACP Tudravu also warned the new recruits that he will not hesitate to recommend an officer’s removal if they are found to be defying the Commissioner’s authority.
ACP Tudravu told the new recruits that he is receiving cases of indiscipline by officers daily and it is concerning that these officers are not thinking of their families and the community they serve.
Out of the 95 police recruits, 6 are from Nauru and 7 are from Tuvalu.
The Basic Recruits Course will take 6 months.
