The Fiji Police Force today received the largest police aid from China.
In order to be responsive in maintaining security, law and order the Chinese government today handed over four vehicles and special equipment to the force.
The equipment include 200 anti-riot suit, shields, helmets, tents, mobile phones, sleeping bag, combat gloves, camp beds, tactical vest, expendable baton and gas masks.
While receiving the donation at the Police Special Response Unit in Nasinu today, Police Commissioner, Ben Groenewald said the bilateral assistance could not have come at a better time as they get ready to establish a trusted police force.
Minister for Defense, National Security and Immigration, Joketani Cokanasiga said the assistance will surely strengthen provision of reinforcement of the Fiji Police Forces capability to effectively carry out its duties.
Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Huang Yong said as per the request of Fiji Police Force, Ministry of Public Security of China provided the police aid this year especially for the sake of elections in Fiji.
