The Fiji Police Force is now considering carrying out random inspections inside nightclubs with the aim of curbing underaged drinking this festive season.
Fijivillage has noticed many underaged students entering the nightclubs over the past few weeks.
Many have also been seen drinking alcohol at different spots.
Police Chief of Operations, ACP Rusiate Tudravu says nightclub owners should have the necessary security to monitor those that are entering their nightclubs.
He says police can enter a nightclub at any time for inspection as it is their prerogative.
Tudravu is also calling on parents to actively monitor their children.
Suva Zone Nightclub Owners Association President Jayk Tavanavanua says the police is welcome to enter nightclubs and check people for their identification.
He had said there is only so much that nightclub owners can do with a limited number of security personnel.
26 nightclub owners are part of the Suva Zone Nightclub Owners Association.
