Police started their operations this morning around Suva monitoring people who were drunk and checking drinking spots.
Police spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said that Police officers had to provide transport for some who were drunk.
Sokomuri also mentioned that some men were taken to the Totogo Police Station and were later released.
He added that this is in a bid to curb the incidence of brawls in Suva and other criminal activities.
A meeting was held last Thursday between Police officials and members of the Fiji Island Security Employer Association at the Central Police Station.
ACP Rusiate Tudravu who chaired the meeting asked members to assist Police in the maintenance of law and order through information and the sharing of resources.
As part of the Duavata Community Policing initiative, the Fiji Police Force thought it wise to seek the assistance from those deemed as friendly forces.
Association President Vilikesa Raqio supported the call for partnership adding their members were ready to provide assistance to the Fiji Police.
The meeting which was the first after a lapse of over 20 years was attended by more than 10 representatives from security companies.
