Police are currently looking for three men after a report lodged by a taxi driver and the video of an attempted carjacking started circulating on social media yesterday.
The video shows a taxi driver being robbed at Tikaram Place, Namadi Heights.
A family shot the video from their house.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro says a report was lodged by the driver after 3 men who had hired his taxi from Suva robbed him at the roundabout where the video was shot.
They managed to take off with the driver's phone after they could not take the taxi.
The driver sustained some injuries trying to fend off the 3 men.
He held the knife that one of the men was using to threaten the driver.
The driver also managed to pull the key out to ensure that they do not take his taxi.
The incident occurred late yesterday afternoon.
Investigations continue.
Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho also met with the taxi driver at the Samabula Police Station last night and personally checked into the progress of the investigations.
This is the second reported carjacking in a week.
