Police investigate rape of an 8-year-old girl in Savusavu Town

Police are currently investigating a case of an 8-year-old girl who was raped in Savusavu Town yesterday.

Fijivillage has received information that the girl was raped in broad daylight behind a supermarket.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro says a 30-year-old man is in custody, however, no charges have been laid as yet.

The girl has been taken for medical examination.

Police are expected to speak to the parents soon.
