Police investigate death of 1yr-old who allegedly drowned in a bucket of water

Police are currently investigating the death of 1-year-old girl who allegedly drowned in a bucket of water at her home in Veitari, Lautoka.

The incident occurred last Thursday.

Police they are looking into the aspect of negligence in the case.

They say the child was left in the care of a relative and on the day of the incident the child is alleged to have disappeared from her sight when she was attending a church service a few metres away from their home.

When the relative searched for her, she allegedly found the child motionless with her head in a bucket which was filled with water a quarter way up.

The child was rushed to the Lautoka Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
