Police are currently investigating an alleged attempted suicide case involving a form 5 student at a school in Suva.
The girl allegedly committed the act after she was counselled by a senior staff at the school in the presence of her father.
The girl suffered minor injuries to her arm and back.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says they continue to work with other stakeholders like Medical Services Pacific, the Education Ministry and the Health Ministry on the number of suicide and attempted suicide cases in the country.
The number of suicide cases stands at 54 for this year and the youngest victim is a 10-year-old.
It has also been confirmed that the total number of attempted suicide cases stands at 55 for this year and the youngest victim is 11-years-old.
