Police are investigating two separate cases where some people have allegedly breached the Electoral Decree.
Chief Operations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said the first case is from Labasa where three people allegedly vandalized a banner of a political party that was posted on the wall of a building on the main street of Labasa town.
He said the three have been taken in for questioning.
A report was received after a member of the party’s Labasa branch noticed their banner was covered with another party’s banner.
Tudravu said numbers were also written in black paint beside the political party’s banner.
He said two more people will be brought in for questioning for their alleged involvement.
In another incident, a report of a similar nature was received at the Nasinu Police Station yesterday.
The police report states the candidate upon checking on his banner which was posted on the wall of a supermarket complex found it missing and replaced by another candidate’s banner.
Police say the discovery was made last night and no one has been taken in for questioning as at this morning.
He said Police will be conducting the initial investigations before the matter is handed over to FICAC.
