Police are hunting for six suspects who were involved in a robbery and also attacked a team of six police officers.
The police officers were on mobile patrol when they were attacked by the group of men.
Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Henry Brown says a report was received at about 2.30am yesterday of a robbery at Visama Road in Nausori.
ACP Brown says they received the report that a group of men entered the home of a 64-year-old businessman and got away with cash, assorted items worth more than $32,000 and the victim's van.
He says the team of officers were on their way to attend the report when they saw the stolen van driven at high speed near a high school and immediately pursued the vehicle upto Farm Road, 10 miles where it was abandoned.
ACP Brown says seven people then attacked the police officers and police dog by throwing stones and bottles at the vehicle the team was travelling in which sustained minor damage.
He says the officers tried to chase them through the bushes however the suspects managed to escape.
ACP Brown says five teams were immediately set up to conduct investigations and three people were taken in for questioning for their alleged involvement in the early morning robbery.
Two have been questioned and released.
A 38-year-old man remains in police custody for his alleged involvement in the robbery.
