Police have now confirmed that the Divisional Police Commander West has received the permit application by the Fiji Trades Union Congress for their planned march in Nadi this Saturday.
Chief Operations Officer, ACP Maretino Qiolevu says the permit application will go through the necessary process before a decision is relayed back to the applicant.
FTUC sent the permit application last Wednesday and they have applied for the march to take place through Nadi Town.
They have applied for it to start at 10.30am and finish at 5pm.
FTUC National Secretary Felix Anthony says all FTUC affiliates are planning and preparing for the nationwide protest this Friday and a national protest march in Nadi this Saturday.
This will be done while the 52nd Asian Development Bank annual meeting takes place in Nadi.
Anthony says they are holding the national protest and march to continue to raise their disappointment with government regarding the National Minimum Wage, Delay in Labour Law Reforms, Right to Strike, Vatukoula Strike, Unresolved Issues regarding the Federated Airlines Staff Association and Opposing the Imposition of Individual Contracts.
FTUC has 35 affiliated member unions. These include unions representing civil servants, teachers, nurses, hotel workers, airline staff workers, flight attendants, transport workers, municipal council workers, university staff, sugar mill workers and factory workers.
