Drivers intending to apply for Public Service Vehicle license with the Land Transport Authority will now pay $20 to get a police clearance from the first of next month.
This is a reduction of $82.20.
Attorney General and Minister for Finance Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum has made this announcement following the release of the recommendations in the 2015 Land Transport Industry Report.
Sayed‑Khaiyum says under the current arrangement, any intended PSV operator applying for a license with LTA is required to get a police clearance for which a fee of $102.20 Vat Inclusive Price needs to be paid.
In announcing this reduction and in line with the recommendations in the 2015 Land Transport Industry Report, Sayed-Khaiyum emphasised streamlining processes not only with the LTA but also making where available, fees affordable for all Fijians.
