Police will not make any further comments into the drowning of two Fijian nationals in Kiribati till they receive an official response from the Kiribati officials.
Chief of Intelligence and Investigations ACP Henry Brown said they have received a report from the Operations Manager of the company based in Suva but they will be liaising with Kiribati authorities regarding the matter to ascertain the facts.
Brown said the vessel is still outside of Fijian waters and until they get some official correspondence with the Kiribati authorities they will then comment.
The two Fijian nationals drowned after their boat sank near a reef in the Phoenix Islands in Kiribati on Saturday.
It is alleged that the two Fijian men were crew members on a ship.
