Sixteen highway police patrol vehicles and six Land Transport Authority vehicles are on the road to monitor speeding vehicles through Operation Tatarovi III.
This is confirmed by the Police Director of Traffic, Mahesh Mishra after Fijivillage raised the issue that speeding is still a major concern on our main highways.
Mishra says that police continue to monitor the situation and they are giving priority to the high risk areas particularly Queens Highway.
He adds they have deployed four vehicles on Queens Highway including three police and one LTA vehicle and one police vehicle on the Kings Road.
Mishra stresses that they want to ensure that we have safe roads for all the road users but despite embarking on the issue, drivers disregard their advice.
Meanwhile, Mishra says that over 2,300 drivers have been booked for speeding since Operation Tatarovi III started last month.
The operation ends on the 31st of this month.
