Police officers from the Samabula District spent yesterday afternoon cleaning at the Golden Age Home in Samabula.

Officer in Charge of the Samabula District ASP Tomasi Bulimaibau says the assistance was a small way of giving back to their community.

He says they wanted to help clean up ahead of Christmas and at the same time get things ready for their special day and what they have done is insignificant compared to what the residents have given to the country in their able years of service.

Bulimaibau says Christmas is a time for giving and this is a small way of giving them a different environment to welcome their special guest for their Senior Citizens Christmas Party.

The officers spent the day cutting grass, painting the footpaths and general landscaping as well spending time with the residents of the home.

ASP Bulimaibau said seeing the senior citizens light up with the presence of the police officers was heartwarming.

The Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa is expected to attend the Senior Citizens Christmas Party this afternoon.
