The Fiji Police Force Traffic Department and the Land Transport Authority will focus on regaining the trust of the public through its combined festive season operation.
Police Director of Traffic Mahesh Mishra says this is because there are many cases of reckless driving that is not being reported to the police.
He says people should trust the Police and the Land Transport Authority and report reckless drivers.
Mishra has given his assurance that proper procedures will be followed when people lodge complaints.
43,375 traffic infringements have been recorded by the Police Traffic department as of last Thursday.
The road death toll currently stands at 61 compared to 45 for the same period last year, with the latest road victim being a newly born baby.
At least 200 drivers have been booked for not following seat belt regulations and driving without a driver's license in the last two days.
