Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho has assured the people of Fiji that the Fiji Police Force is prepared and ready for any security situation as we head to the 2018 general elections.
His comment comes following rumours of a coup on November 15th.
FijiFirst General Secretary and Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum had stated over the weekend that rumours of a coup on November 15th are not true.
Today, Qiliho shared similar sentiments adding they have been in talks with the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces as they also have a responsibility for the safety and security of all Fijians.
Qiliho says police officers will be deployed specifically for elections operations but their primary role in policing remains and their officers are stationed at police stations, doing patrols and their units are on standby to react to any situation that they may have.
