The Vodafone Friendly North Carnival Committee is trying to acquire a piece of land to build a public convenience between the Labasa and Savusavu highway.
Committee Spokesperson Vincent Sahayam says that they had negotiated with the land owners however they are unable to secure the land.
Sahayam says they have written to the Commissioner Northern for assistance and they are waiting for the response.
He says that as soon as they get a piece of land they will start the project.
Sahayam says the committee cannot disclose the cost but they have sufficient amount of money to complete the project.
People who travel through the Labasa-Savusavu highway also raised this issue with Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum during the 2017/2018 National Budget Consultation in Labasa early this month.
