People have been urged to get involved and help in reporting bus and taxi drivers who are not following road rules and are also driving dangerously which can cause serious accidents.
It has been noticed on a daily basis that a number of bus drivers are dangerously changing lanes without giving any indication and they also get in and come out of bus stops without indicating or waiting for the vehicles which are already next to them.
At times the motorists have to quickly stop their vehicles to avoid accidents.
It has also been noticed that a number of taxi drivers also stop their taxis in no parking areas when someone stops the taxi.
Many taxi drivers have also been seen wearing three quarter pants, t‑shirts and flip‑flops although this is not allowed under the PSV drivers code of conduct.
We have raised these issues with the Land Transport Authority who say that the public can assist by reporting bad drivers.
Public Relations Officer, Anuragi Prakash said the Authority has conducted training for PSV drivers and they will be conducting more training this year.
She said vigorous enforcement is ongoing where drivers have been taken to task, however they are emphasizing on awareness and education first.
People can report bad drivers to LTA’s Call and Complaints Centre on the toll free number 0800 3342 886 or Mobile short code 5298.
