Good news for the people of Vanua Levu as they do not need to travel to Suva to get their passport as passport printing will now be done in Labasa.
Attorney General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum has issued the first passport in Labasa today that was printed at the Labasa Department of Immigration.
Sayed‑Khaiyum says this will drastically reduce the cost of travelling for the people in the North to get this service.
He says it was unfair for the people of Vanua Levu as they were not able to access this service in Labasa.
Meanwhile, Sayed‑Khaiyum has also confirmed the passport issuing office will soon open in Nadi which will mean that people from the Western Division will not have to travel to Suva.
