The people of Serua have presented 3 acres of land in Vunibau to outgoing Fiji 7s coach, Ben Ryan this afternoon after the historic Olympic gold medal win in Rio earlier this month.
The Turaga Na Vunivalu of Serua, Ratu Peni Latianara made the announcement in a moving Itaukei ceremony to welcome Ben Ryan at Uprising Beach Resort.
Ben Ryan has also been given the name Ratu Peni Raiyani Latianara.
Ryan says his journey started in Serua when he started putting the Fiji 7s team together in 2013.
He thanked the people of Serua for all their support and for giving without receiving.
Ben Ryan says he and his wife, Natalie believe that they come from everywhere in Fiji however Serua will also be their vale (home).
He says this is where the work was done and where the players were selected during the World Rugby 7s series and the Olympic Games.
Ben Ryan is expected to leave Fiji later this week after attending Fiji Airways birthday on Thursday.
