People of the Northern Division had an opportunity to have discussions with the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation about their challenges.
Minister Rosy Akbar, Permanent Secretary for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Dr Josefa Koroivueta and the Divisional Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea visited the communities in the Northern Division as part of efforts to strengthen the Ministry’s assistance programs.
The headman of Koromakawa village Mariselo Natui requested the Minister to look into making electricity supply easily accessible to them and improving the road conditions.
Natui highlighted that they have to cross two rivers and drive through rough roads to reach their home.
He said currently there are no bus services in the area which makes it difficult to travel to Labasa town.
Akbar stressed that the Ministry will work together with the relevant authorities to ensure that women and children in rural areas are not deprived of the basic services they need.
