The high chief of Macuata, Ratu Williame Katonivere yesterday paid tribute to the leaders at the time when Fiji joined global peacekeeping mission for their vision to involve Fiji in the pursuance of global peace.
Katonivere in his address during the 40th Anniversary of Fiji’s participation in Global Peace celebration held in Labasa said that Fiji’s participation is globally recognised and it is something that Fijians should be proud of.
Close to 300 members of the disciplinary force, ex-servicemen, wives and supporters of global peacekeepers marched through Labasa Town today to mark the occasion.
Katonivere says that fallen soldiers will always be remembered for putting their lives on the line while serving in areas of conflicts around the world.
Former President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau was also present at the celebration.
