The Fiji Electricity Authority is making sure that power supply is normal in the Central Division while they carry out their work on the 132,000 volts transmission line from Wailoa Hydro Power Station to Suva this weekend.
CEO Hasmukh Patel said FEA will rely on the diesel power stations at Kinoya, Rokobili, Korovou and Deuba, however, people may experience intermittent power supply in the event of a failure to any one of their diesel generation sets.
Patel said they want to carry out their work in the weekend as power demand will be low.
He said the first phase of work will take place between 3am to 7pm this Friday and this exercise will be carried out subject to favourable weather conditions prevailing at the work site.
He added in the event the weather conditions are unfavourable, the work will then be postponed to this Sunday from 3am to 7pm.
Patel said the second phase of work is scheduled for October 26th.
The CEO said FEA’s fuel bill is about $18 million per month and all the cost is absorbed by FEA and they do not intend to burden the customers with the fuel costs.
