Fijian households that earn less than a total annual income of $30,000 will have to pay for tap water if they consume more than 250 liters of water per day.
This has been confirmed by Water Authority of Fiji CEO Opetaia Ravai.
He added families will be notified by their water bills if they have used more than 250 litres of water.
Ravai said the 250 litres of free water will cater for an average of five members per family.
A record budget of $239 million was allocated to the Water Authority of Fiji in the 2015 National budget.
