Authorities are calling on people to store rain water as rainfall was experienced in Savusavu, Saqani, Bua, Labasa and other parts of the country yesterday.
Acting Commissioner Northern, Alipate Bolalevu said that although his team is carting water to affected dry-spell areas, he is advising people in the North to put out their buckets when it rains.
Meanwhile, Director National Disaster Management, Manasa Tagicakibau earlier said that rainfall is predicted to be below average in the coming months and according to the short term forecasts, it may rain over most parts of the country in the next few weeks.
Tagicakibau has cautioned the general public to use water sparingly in light of the prevailing weather patterns currently being experienced.
