Despite numerous calls from authorities, people are continuing to cross carelessly between buses at bus stands around the country.
It has been seen at the Suva bus stand that people are crossing the road anyhow and some even do not follow the instructions of the Suva City Council officers who are directing traffic during peak hours.
Fijivillage has even noticed people running to cross the road in-front of oncoming buses.
Just over a year ago, a mother and her child died while crossing between two buses.
One of the buses was encountering engine problems when it hit the other bus and in the process hit the two victims.
Recently in a similar incident, an 18-year-old student died after he sustained serious injuries while trying to cross between two buses at the Labasa Bus stand.
Suva City Council CEO, Bijay Chand says they can do only so much and people continue to cross the roads carelessly.
Meanwhile, we have also sent questions to the Labasa Town Council regarding this issue and whether they are putting their officers at the bus stand to guide people.
