Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says that former Minister of Education Filipe Bole was known to him as person who had the characteristics of a statesman and advised the government with wisdom and knowledge.

While speaking at Bole’s funeral service at the Wesley City Mission Church in Suva, Bainimarama says whenever he met Bole he treated him as a friend from Vanuabalavu and not as the person who held high positions in government.

He says this shows the type of person Bole was a good, loving and caring person with qualities of being a leader.

He adds Bole will surely be missed by the many people he has helped locally, regionally and internationally.

Meanwhile Opposition Leader Sitiveni Rabuka who spoke on behalf of the QVS old scholars says Bole always showed positive attitude towards anyone that needed his help.

He says when Bole was the Minister of Education he was the pillar of strength in promoting education to all Fijians.

Former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase says Fiji has lost one of its great leaders who had the love and passion for whatever he was tasked to do.

He says Bole will surely be missed by those that were close to him and also those that he helped when he held the position of Minister for Education.

Meanwhile, Bole's granddaughter Oripa Fuatau while giving the family’s eulogy highlighted that her grandfather was an inspiration to the whole family.

Fuatau says she still remembers the days when her grandfather paid all her LTA fines.

She says at times her grandfather would pay her fines and she would find out later.

Fuatau says that with the passing of this great man, Fiji and her family has lost someone who has been a great inspiration to many.

Bole will be laid to rest at the Lovonilase Cemetery this afternoon.
