Parvez Akbar appointed as new CEO of the ACCF

Parvez Akbar has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Accident Compensation Commission Fiji.

Akbar’s appointment was announced by the Accident Compensation Commission Board Chairman Ariff Ali.

Akbar began his career as a Lawyer in Fiji 1995 and has specialized in Employment law.

Akbar also has experience of the Accident Compensation Scheme in New Zealand.

Meanwhile, the new “no fault compensation” scheme will come into effect from the 1st of next month.

Private vehicle owners will have to pay motor vehicle accident levy of $63 from the 1st of next month.

This replaces the Compulsory Third-Party insurance.

All owners of motor vehicles for which Compulsory Third Party insurance cover expires on or after 1st January next year will be required to pay the relevant motor vehicle accident levy to any Land Transport Authority Office.

Motor Vehicle Accident Levies 2018

An office of the Accident Compensation Commission Fiji will be set up in LTA’s Valelevu branch which will employ 22 trained officers.
