Shamal Chand, a member of Permal Construction team that won the Frank Hilton Organisation’s Wheelbarrow race says they participate in the race every year not just to win but to fundraise the maximum amount of money to help the children with special needs or are at a risk of disability.
Permal Construction team won the Frank Hilton Organisation’s Wheelbarrow race completing the 3.3 kilometers around Albert Park in 9 minutes and 06 seconds yesterday.
Meanwhile, Bluescope Pacific Steel finished in 2nd place while Fortech Construction finished the race in 3rd place.
Over $85,000 have been raised from the 18 teams that took part in the Frank Hilton Wheelbarrow Race 2019.
Chand says he expects that the money will be for a good cause in helping the children.
He also encouraged the other 17 teams that participated in the race to come again next year and support each other to make it a successful wheelbarrow race next year.
The Chief Executive Officer of Frank Hilton Organization Sureni Perara says the money that has been raised will be used for the operational cost of the organisation.
She says the strategic plans of the organisation focuses on workforce development, institutional strengthening and to support the existing sectors of health and education in providing holistic support services for children with disabilities and their families.
