43 participants who are part of the Ship of World Youth Leaders Program spent their morning at Sawani village today.
They are part of the 240 youths contingent from 11 countries that arrived in Fiji in MV Nippon Maru Ship on Friday.
The participants were divided into five groups and spent the day in Nakini, Naganivatu, Sawani, Kasavu and Galoa today.
The group was welcomed in Sawani Village by hymns and choruses. The group attended the morning service at the Sawani Methodist Church and later had lovo for lunch.
Tongan representative Eleni Fatiki Tui addressed the congregation saying that the group was happy and delighted to be part of a Fijian style service.
She says Fiji is her home away from home and was grateful for the hospitality and warmth shared by the people of Sawani.
Egypt's representative Dina Mostafa says it was the first time for her to attend a church service.
She says if there was something she could take back with her was the scenery and the friendliness of the Fijian people.
The participants will head back to Japan tomorrow.
The Ship for World Youth Leaders program operated by the Government of Japan is a program that involves youths from Japan and countries around the world.
The participants live together and while on board, they study and discuss common issues from a global perspective and participate in other various activities that involve multi‑cultural and multi‑national exchange opportunities.
