It was a proud moment for Yash Parmar who was the recipient of the Vice-Chancellor and President’s All Rounder Gold Medal Prize for the male graduate with the best combined academic performance and record of service to the community at the USP 2019 Medal and Prizes ceremony last night.
The 21-year-old says it has always been his mission to succeed and be able to repay his parents for all the sacrifices they have made for him.
Parmar who is from Rakiraki says it was very difficult for him to be away from home but his ambition to make his parents proud is what kept driving him forward.
Parmar has also encouraged all his fellow students to never let themselves down and in striving for the moon they may just end with the stars.
A total of 50 awards were presented last night out of which 32 were female.
Meanwhile, USP Vice‑Chancellor Professor Pal Ahluwalia has revealed that a total of 2025 students will be graduating from the University of the South Pacific this Thursday with certificates, diplomas and degrees.
