The Secretary General to Parliament Viniana Namosimalua has today clarified that an investigation is underway following the publication of an article in the Fiji Sun titled “MPs Linked to Alleged Sex Incident”.
Namosimalua says the Department of Legislature has its own policies and procedures to be followed and that is currently being undertaken.
She said in a statement that any further decision will be made once the full result of the investigation is complete.
Namosimalua says at this stage, the Office of the Secretary General will make no further comments on the matter.
Reports have emerged that a senior staff member of the parliamentary secretariat has been sent home for three months without pay after complaints of sexual misconduct allegedly involving her and two married SODELPA MPs.
The alleged incidents occurred at a resort during a parliamentary seminar.
When contacted by Fijivillage, SODELPA Leader Sitiveni Rabuka says the Office of the Leader of the Opposition is handling the issue and he will not make any comments.
Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa could not be reached for comments.
