Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa says parents should always get personally involved their children’s education.

While addressing the 100th Annual Convention of the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji at Bhawani Dayal Arya College in Nakasi, Vuniwaqa says parents and families have the most direct and lasting impact on children’s learning and development of social competence.

She says when parents and families get personally involved in education their children do better in schools and grow to be more successful in life.

She stresses that education is a right that our children have easy access to.

The Minister highlighted that there are several other social problems like violence against women and girls, poverty, child abuse, neglect and gender inequality and the faith-based organisations play a major role to act and help uphold equal rights for Fijians.

Vuniwaqa adds that the 100th annual convention is a reflection of the successful and dedicated coordination in building a strong foundation for the society.

She believes that no matter what religious denomination one  belongs to, all religion in Fiji shows love and respect for all human beings irrespective of the different circumstances.
