Parental involvement is one of the most overlooked aspects of education today.
This was highlighted by the Minister for Women, Mereseini Vuniwaqa while addressing the International day of Families.
Vuniwaqa says that many parents do not realize how important it is to get involved in their children’s learning.
She says all parents and family members should try to find the time and make the effort as research shows that when families get involved, their children get better grades and are better behaved and have more positive attitudes.
The Minister stresses education can effectively drive families out of poverty.
She says children should be taught love and respect for their elders.
She highlighted that men should also respect their wives and set examples for their children, especially boys as to how they must treat women and girls.
