Suva resident Ben Padarath who was charged by FICAC with one count of giving false information to a public servant will be sentenced on the 1st of next month.
It is alleged that on 23rd January, 2011, Padarath gave false information via text messages to the Director of Immigration Nemani Vuniwaqa, intending to cause him to put the name of Paul Freeman on the Immigration Watch List.
The case was called today for mitigation.
Padarath’s lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo told the Suva Magistrates Court this morning that he will file some submissions which includes a letter of character witness.
He will also submit a written mitigation.
FICAC lawyer Rashmi Aslam is also expected to file sentencing submissions by next week.
Padarath has pleaded guilty to the charge.
