Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has sought new opportunities for development cooperation for Fiji at a series of meetings in Beijing with the President of the World Bank, the Chairman of the Bank of China and the President of the Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank.
The talks-covered infrastructure development cooperation, the growth of small and micro enterprises in Fiji and Fiji’s upcoming presidency of COP 23.
Bainimarama reiterated Fiji’s commitment to defend and implement the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and forge a grand coalition to accelerate climate action between governments, civil society, the scientific community and the private sector.
The Prime Minister is in China to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, a two‑day infrastructure summit hosted by the Chinese Government.
This year’s forum was attended by more than 100 countries and organisations.
